right from their phones using text messaging with your custom MyxerCode. |
MyxerCodes are short, recognizable codes that give users easy access to mobile content and artist information
directly from their phones, or from the web. Artists and brands can create personalized MyxerCodes, giving them a
great way to promote their Myxer content and build awareness among their fans and user base.
Create your MyxerCode today and give your fans all of these great ways to find you and your content, by promoting
with one simple, personalized keyword:
- Personalized Myxer URLs. Fans can get to your profile and content catalog at recognizable
URLs from their phones, or from their desktop web browsers.
- Easy, recognizable SMS access. Fans can request and download your content right from their phones
using text messaging with your custom MyxerCode.
- Easy keyword searching at Myxer. Your MyxerCode acts as a search keyword on the Myxer site,
so you can ensure your content is findable by anyone who knows your MyxerCode
MyxerCodes are one of the many benefits associated with being a certified MyxerIndie™.

How it Works
Artists can easily create their own custom MyxerCodes once they are certified as a MyxerIndie. Users can then text the MyxerCode for an artist to 69937 and receive a link to the artist's profile and full content catalog right
on their mobile phone. MyxerCodes are also automatically created for each individual content item in an artist's catalog, allowing users to request and download
content items by simply texting the MyxerCode for the item they want to 69937. Content can either be made available for free, or for purchase. In addition, the artist's profile will
become available at a friendly URL on both the traditional web and mobile version of myxer.com. If you are outside the United States you will need to text to the international short code +447797806195.
Creating Your Personalized Artist MyxerCode
You can create your MyxerCode by following the "MyxerCode" link from your Account page and following the instructions.
The creation screen will prompt you to enter your MyxerCode, and as you type, will indicate whether the code you've typed is acceptable.
Your MyxerCode cannot be changed once it's been created, so choose it carefully. Once you've made your initial choice, you'll be asked to
confirm it before it's saved permanently.

Once your MyxerCode is created, users can access your content and your artist profile in many ways. For example, if you were to choose
"MyxerMan" as your MyxerCode, users could
-
Text "MyxerMan" to 69937 (MYXER), or +447797806195 if you are outside the United States, from their phone and receive a link to your artist profile and entire content catalog.
-
Browse to your artist profile and catalog at http://www.myxer.com/myxerman, from either their phone or desktop web browser.
-
Enter your MyxerCode into the "Search" field on www.mxyer.com, from either their phone or desktop PC, to find your profile
and content.
-
Download or buy individual content items directly from their phone. See the Creating Custom MyxerCodes for Content Items
section below for more information.
Your personal MyxerCode:
- Must be at least six characters
- Must consist of only numbers and letters, and cannot end in a number
- Must be unique (cannot be the same as someone else's MyxerCode)
- Cannot be changed once it's created. To create a new MyxerCode, you'll need to create a new artist profile
Once your personalized MyxerCode is created, each of your content items is also automatically given
a custom MyxerCode that can be used to request it directly from a mobile phone. By default, the MyxerCode
for a content item will be your artist MyxerCode, followed by a space and a number. The number for
each item will be unique, and will be assigned automatically based on the position of the item in the
catalog.
For example, users can request the first content item from an artist with a MyxerCode of "MyxerMan" by texting
"MyxerMan 1" to 69937, or +447797806195 if you are outside the United States. The second item could be requested by typing "MyxerMan 2", and so on.
As a content owner, you can customize the MyxerCode for any of your items. So instead of "MyxerMan 1", you can change
the MyxerCode for your first item to be "MyxerMan Live". Just click the "edit your item" link for the item whose MyxerCode
you want to customize.
You can promote all of your Myxer mobile content using MyxerCodes. Let's say you have a ringtone named
"Beatbox" with a MyxerCode of "MyxerMan 1". You can promote your ringtone like this:
Text "MyxerMan 1" to 69937("MYXER"), or +447797806195 if you are outside the United States, to get the Beatbox ringtone.
MyxerCodes and Premium Content
MyxerCodes can be created for content that is free, as well as premium content (content with a non-zero price).
When users request premium content using a MyxerCode, the requesting phone will be sent a confirmation message that clearly
states the purchase price, and requests a "yes" reply to confirm the purchase. Upon
receiving the "yes" response, Myxer will deliver the content to the requesting
phone, and charge the subscriber's phone bill once the download is complete.
Content purchased using a MyxerCode is billed to the requesting mobile subscriber's
phone bill. The amount billed to the subscriber is the retail price set from the
Artist's Dashboard by the content owner.
The artist payout (the share of the retail sales price that goes to the content owner)
is 30% of retail.
If the requested content is free, a link to download it will be immediately sent
back to the requesting phone without requiring a "yes" confirmation. The subscriber
will not be billed for the content (though normal text messaging and bandwidth
charges from their carrier may apply).
Supported Carriers
MyxerCodes work with all US carriers supported by Myxer (this is basically
everybody except Nextel and Boost). Note that premium content - that is, content
with a non-zero price - can only be purchased with a MyxerCode if the subscriber
is on one of the following US carriers: AT&T, Cellular One, Cingular, Dobson, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon. Users
on non-major carriers who attempt to purchase content with a MyxerCode will be sent
an SMS message informing them that they must make their purchase via the Myxer.com
website.
MyxerCodes vs. MyxerTags
MyxerCodes and MyxerTags are two different but complementary ways to provide access
to your orginal mobile content. We encourage artists to use both of these
features of their Myxer account to most effectively promote their content.
MyxerTags are the best way to distribute mobile content on the web. They're
simple enough to embed in your own web page. MyxerTags are
strictly a web technology and they're intended to be used by desktop web browsers.
 |
MyxerTags make it simple to make your mobile content available from your own web page.
|
MyxerCodes are the best way to distribute mobile content directly to mobile
phones. By promoting your MyxerCodes in print (concert flyers, CD inserts, etc.) or
in person, anyone you come into contact with in "the real world" can get your mobile
content with a simple text message.
 |
MyxerCodes allow your fans to download and purchase your products directly from their mobile phone.
