Polynesian singer-songwriter duo Makena recently made the jump from the islands of Hawaii to the “mainland” with hopes of exposing a larger audience to their phenomenal brand of “lo-fi” folk. Now calling L.A.’s Redondo Beach their home, the two, with lush production and evocative vocals most certainly have music industry types standing up and taking notice. Already they’ve scooped up quite a prestigious honor; an esteemed spot on the Grammy Awards preliminary ballot for "Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album" for 2007!
